Introduction
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has its genesis in the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Defence Act, 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army. In 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was passed, The `University Corps’ was replaced by the ‘University Training Corps (UTC)’ In 1942, the UTC was renamed as the ‘University Officers Training Corps’ (UOTC). The need to create a youth organisation at National level to train the young boys and girls to be better citizens and future leaders of our great country in all walks of life, including Defence forces, was rightly realized by our leaders. A Committee under Pandit HN Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the behest of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The NCC came into existence on 16th July, 1948 under the NCC Act XXXVI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
NCC Motto
The Motto of the NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’ which was adopted on 23 Dec 1957. In living upto its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of our nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of our country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of our nation.
Selection of NCC Flag
In 1954 the existing tricolour flag was introduced. The three colours in the flag depict the three Services of the Corps, red for the Army, deep blue for the Navy and light blue for the Air Force. The letters NCC and the NCC crest in gold in the middle of the flag encircled by a wreath of lotus, give the flag a colourful look and a distinct identity. Each lotus represents one NCC Directorate (Dte).
Aims
The aims of NCC as approved by MOD in Mar 2001 are as under:-
To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

Eligibility :
Any student of any faculty BA/BCom/BSc/BBA/BCA First Year,
Age above 18 years (proof required)
Physically fit
Seats intake :

Certificates & Examination:
Certificate – B: In the second year of training the candidate must have attended a min. 75% of total training periods, must have attended one Annual Training Camp/NIC.
Certificate – C: Those having B certificate, attended two ATCs or one ATC, RD Camp Delhi, Centrally Organized Camp, Para Training Camp, Attachment Training with service units, National Integration Camp, Youth Exchange Programme

राष्ट्रीय छात्र सेना (National Cadet Corps, एन. सी.सी.)
राष्ट्रीय छात्र सेना एन. सी.सी. चा उद्देश हा छात्रांमध्ये नेतृत्व, चारित्र्य, साहस, खेळाडूवृत्ती यांचा विकास करणे हा असून त्यामधून नियमांशी जागृत आणि प्रशिक्षण पूर्ण केलेली अशी एक जनशक्ती निर्माण करणे की जी देशाला संकटकाळी उपयोगी पडू शकेल. पं. हृदयनाथ कुंजरू यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाने १६ एप्रिल १९४८ पासून राष्ट्रीय छात्र सेना कार्यवाही आजतागायत अखंडितपणे सुरु आहे. महाविद्यालयात १०० छात्रांची डिव्हिजन मंजूर आहे. ३६ महाराष्ट्रीयन बटालियन ( 36 MAH BN) आपल्याकडे कार्यरत आहे. N.C.C. मध्ये सहभागी विध्यार्थ्यांना ड्रिल, स्कॉडवर ताबा ठेवणे, गणवेश सैन्य, हत्यारांची काळजी, नकाशा वाचन, संकेतिक चिन्हांचा अभ्यास, प्राथमिक उपचार, नागरी संरक्षण इत्यादीच्या दृष्टीने प्रशिक्षण दिले जाते. सहभागी विध्यार्थ्यांना सुवर्णसंधी म्हणून नैशनल इंटीग्रेशन कॅम्प, रिपब्लिक डे कॅम्प, पॅरा ट्रेनिंग कॅम्प, रॉक क्लायंबिंग कॅम्प, रेग्युलर आर्मी अटेचमेंट कॅम्प याबरोबर सोशल सर्विस कॅम्प, ऑल इंडिया समर ट्रेनिंग कॅम्प, अॅडव्हान्स लीडरशिप कॅम्प, ऑफिसर्स ट्रेनिंग कॅम्प, अॅन्युअल ट्रेनिंग कॅम्प, हायकिंग ट्रेकिंग कॅम्प इ. विविध कॅम्प आयोजित केले जातात.
आय. एस. ए. मध्ये आर्मी ऑफिसर्स पदासाठी आर्मी विभाग एन. सी. सी. च्या सर्टीफिकेट धारकांना ३२ जागा राखीव ठेवल्या आहेत.
हवाईदलामध्ये अधिकारी पदासाठी १० जागा राखीव असतात.
आर्मीमध्ये शिवाई म्हणून भरती करत असताना लेखी व मौखिक परिक्षेत १०% मार्क 'सी' प्रमाणपत्र धारकांना दिले जातात.
नौ सेना सोल्जर, टेक्निकल ऑफिसर या पदासाठी बी व सी प्रमाणपत्र धारकांना त्यांना मिळालेल्या गुणांमध्ये २% मार्क अधिक केले जातात.
पॅरा मिलिटरी फोर्स मध्ये ऑफिसर म्हणून भरती होत असताना १०% मार्क अधिक दिले जातात.
महाराष्ट्रातील कोणत्याही विद्यापीठात पदवी प्रवेश होत असताना बी व सी प्रमाणपत्र धारकांना त्यांना मिळालेल्या गुणांमध्ये २% जागा मार्क अधिक केले जातात.
'सी' प्रमाणपत्र धारण करणाऱ्या विध्यार्थ्यांना १० गुणांचा ग्रेस दिला जातो.
इंजिनिअरिंग प्रवेशामध्ये १० जागा, वैद्यकीय प्रवेश घेतेवेळी ३ मार्क अधिक, तर पॉलिटेक्निक प्रवेशासाठी १५ जागा राखीव असतात.
